Confidence is key to selling at luxury level but it's also a skill you can learn so why not learn from the most successful people in the world?
J.K. Rowling, Charlotte Tilbury, and More Offer Their Advice on How to Be More Confident
To play at the premium level, you need a strong air of confidence. Learn how to build self-confidence from some of the most successful people in the world.
If you’re going to sell a premium or luxury offer, you need absolute confidence in your magic. You have to know, deep down inside, that you are the person who can create the transformation your clients are looking for.
You have to be the Maverick…
The person so sure of themselves that they can make a premium offer with no fear.
But I know that’s where things get difficult.
When you transition into the premium space, your mind starts asking all sorts of questions. It tries to tell you that you’re taking too big of a risk. And it says that people won’t pay what you know you deserve for the brilliance that you bring.
I get it…
But I also think it’s time to shut off that little voice that’s holding you back.
To have confidence means you have one of the key ingredients for success at the premium level. And who better to learn about confidence from than those who’ve reached the top of their respective fields.
The likes of J.K. Rowling and Charlotte Tilbury can teach you so much about stepping into your true self so that you radiate confidence.
Let’s learn from them!
J.K. Rowling – Know You Have the Power Inside You
Confidence comes from deep down inside.
And it’s this fact that makes some of us believe that we simply don’t have it.
We see people who seem to exude confidence and we assume that they must have access to some special kind of magic that we don’t have.
But that’s not the case at all!
J.K. Rowling, who achieved worldwide success with her brilliant Harry Potter books, points out that your confidence, your power, is always inside you:
“We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better.”
Your confidence comes from knowing you have the ability to transform the lives of others. It comes from knowing that you can create amazing change in your own life.
You don’t need to have some sort of internal magic to become a confident person.
The magic is already at your fingertips. It’s in your offering and the value that you bring. All it needs is for you to realize how powerful you truly are and you can start spreading that magic like wildfire.
Charlotte Tilbury – Present Your Best
The makeup artist for the stars, Charlotte Tilbury has made a career out of attracting the very best clients to her business. Her premium services help celebrities light up every room they enter.
And they have a massive effect on her, too, as she explains:
“I discovered makeup when I was 13, and it changed my life. I started wearing mascara, and overnight, people reacted to me in a very different way – I was more popular and I felt more confident.”
Am I telling you to wear more makeup if you want to feel confident?
I believe the point of this quote is that how you present yourself has a huge impact on your sense of self-image.
For Charlotte, the discovery of makeup allowed her to present the version of herself that she’d always seen in her head. It allowed her to look her best at all times, which I’m sure is a big part of her success.
So, my advice here is to think about how you present yourself.
Not from an egotistical perspective.
But from the perspective of feeling 100% comfortable in your skin. That comfort breeds the confidence you need to make your premium offer.
Oprah Winfrey – Stand Up For Your Beliefs
Your beliefs are a crucial part of your premium offering.
Everything you do is based on the internal value system that influences the transformation you create.
You believe in yourself and what you’re offering. But somebody who has such beliefs will often face challenges from those who don’t share those very same beliefs. And it’s these challenges that can damage your confidence.
When you face such a challenge, take the brilliant Oprah Winfrey’s advice:
“Don’t back down just to keep the peace. Standing up for your beliefs builds self-confidence and self-esteem.”
You know that you have talents that nobody else in the world can replicate…
You know you deliver everything you say you can and so much more…
When somebody questions your belief in yourself and what you do, stand up for your values. Show them that you won’t diminish yourself just to fit into the little box they have for you.
Break out and be brilliant!
Venus Williams – Pretend Believing in Yourself If You’re Not There Yet
You know that you need to demonstrate confidence…
But you’re just not there yet.
Somewhere inside, there’s a blockage that’s trying to stop you from unleashing the true you on the world. And whenever you try to feel confident in what you do, that blockage rears its head and holds you back.
We’ve all been there.
Even sporting champions, like Venus Williams, have felt this type of confidence crisis. And she has valuable advice if you’re in this place right now:
“Just believe in yourself. Even if you don’t, pretend that you do and, at some point, you will.”
In other words…
Fake it until you make it!
None of us is impervious to the niggling doubts that get cast on what we do. It doesn’t matter whether those doubts come from external sources or our own minds. Sometimes, those doubts can shake our confidence in the value we offer.
When that happens, pretend that those doubts don’t exist.
Pretend that you have confidence, even if you feel like you don’t.
“Pretending” has this remarkable way of leading to the real you.
Richard Branson – Be a Rule Breaker
Richard Branson is a Maverick.
The man doesn’t let anything hold him back. And if he decides he’s going to try something, then that’s all it takes.
Fly around the world on a hot air balloon?
He’s going to try it!
Launch a new business, be it selling wedding dresses or creating an entire airline?
Nothing’s going to stop him from trying!
Branson looks at all of the “rules” of business and he breaks them one by one. And he says that’s one of the keys to his confidence
“You don’t learn to walk by following rules. You learn by doing, and by falling over.”
You’re a Maverick.
You have something to offer that nobody else has.
So, of course, you can’t just do what everybody else does.
When you become a rule breaker, you accept that you’re going to tread a new path. And it’s the knowledge that you don’t follow the pack that instills you with the confidence you need to keep pushing.
